Bought this for my Honda VTX 1300 with a full front shield. Installation was pretty easy and all the necessary items are included.I’d suggest that you play with the angle while riding to figure out what the best is for you.My only real complaint is there is no bass to the speakers. I realize this is a small tube with mini speakers but for the price I’d expect just a little more bass. With that said I have slip-on obnoxiously loud pipes on my VTX and even at 65mph with a full helmet I can still hear my music. It’s loud enough to make my boom microphone activate so other riders sometimes hear my music-or me singing. One really cool feature is the USB adapter that keeps my phone charged while listening to music and or using my phone for my gps.All in all I’d suggest this for anyone who wants to listen to some tunes while they are riding.Keep it on two wheels….!!!Having a Road King, the options for speakers are limited unless you want to spend a good deal of money. For the price of this speaker, it’s impressive. Easy to install & sounds great. At almost full volume it can still be heard at 70 on the highway with no windshield. The only thing I’d like more is it is had a little more bass. To note, the bike has full Rinehart pipes on it with 4.5 in the back.I had some boss speakers on my bike and wanted to declutter so got this. Was hesitant on the money, but decided to go ahead. It's easy to install and sound pretty good and loud enough to hear doing 70 with 3/4 helmet.Cons: Pricy.. / Sometimes blue tooth doesn't auto connect, will have to manual force the connection / USB port in a bad spot, if you have a Windshield it's almost impossible to install a cable. Took me a few adjustments to move the speaker enough to get a cord in.Easy to install and it sounds amazing riding down the road. You lose good volume and quality around 75. Wish it was a bit louder on highway. Overall, a great purchase!Installed and works perfectly on my wife's Indian Scout! Installs easily between the handlebars and the windshield, if any. Indian includes a spare wire from the ignition. Whatever connector that is fits with the connector provided by Kuryakyn. No manual splicing needed, at least on an Indian bike (and probably most newer bikes). This way, it's wired into the ignition so the speaker turns off when the bike turns off.The speaker system includes a USB port for charging your phone or whatever you want to use it for. The sound quality is great to me. I don't know a lot about sound, I'm not a musician, I've never installed aftermarket speakers in a car or truck, I don't generally jack with equalizers (because stock is fine). I'm not a sound fanatic. To me, the sound quality is better than a lot of motorcycles with fixed fairings that have speakers. Does this sound ok? Yeah, sounds great and rich to me.We play streaming music and mp3 music, both from a phone. I connected the phone to the speaker over Bluetooth. The Bluetooth connects easy. When I mute my radio on my motorcycle, I can hear my wife's Road Thunder music from her bike, probably 6-8 feet away. It's plenty loud and we've never had it anywhere near max volume. No complaints. Solid purchase. Sound snobs might find something to whine about, as you can see in other reviews, but I honestly don't understand what they are talking about.Got this and installed it on my motorcycle…No instructions on how to install it was included.I don’t know if I received the earlier model which is 150 watts even though I assumed this is the newer 300 watt version there is no way of actually seeing if this is the 300 watt version because there is no label on the speaker itself indicating any information regarding this speaker power RMS.I had a little trouble getting the speaker to pair with my Bluetooth and eventually worked it out and got it to work.Overall the speaker I received isn’t as loud as I expected and despite the description I doubt this speaker is 300 watt version. It’s loud when my bike is turned off.I have installed it on a bike inside a batwing ferring which blocks a lot of air hitting my chest.I noticed the sound gets drowned out when I drive over 50 mph. It’s really disappointing and as I’ve heard and seen other reviewers say, it’s really good but it’s not face melting loud which was what I expected in a 300 watt version.I had to remove the gas tank and seat and peel back several electrical connectors on my bike to install it.It’s installed and I’m not removing it but it’s worth mentioning that the speaker itself only has the words stenciled Road Thunder and nothing to indicate it’s a newer 300 watt version which was called the Road Thunder Plus. The over all RMS volume is a giveaway that this speaker isn’t as loud as I expected. I’m a sound guy, play guitar and have guitar amps and PA system. I know the difference when I hear it when a 150 watts is and what a 300 watt version should sound like.I also have purchased a few different Bluetooth speakers different brands and compared them to this one.My biggest complaint about this purchase was that no where on the speaker did it indicate where it was manufactured, what model it actually is or how many watts it actually is…This isn’t normal when buying electronics. That’s why I gave it a low score as far as reviews are concerned. This was over $450. And it’s not worth buying because of what I have experienced after seeing it and hearing it.No label on the unit to indicate actual power rating wattage, and it’s not loud enough to hear on the highway despite what other people say.SOUND:Is this thing loud? Well yes... but by loud i mean lots of treb and mid sound. The bass is not great on this one unfortunately. My wife has a small round and cheap bluetooth speaker for her bicycle that has better bass and comparable volume. Still, this unit for what it is, is fine not great but fine. Now onto the installation part.....INSTALLATION: provided instuctions are for handlebar mounting and operation of the installed unit. No diagram was provided for wiring. Had to spend hours on Youtube and mutiple forums to get er going. You will need to either be familiar with auto electrical or hire someone to wire it for you..... but the basic breakdown is, red to red, black to black, blue is not used unless you have a remote for it, and orange is to be spliced into the ignition switch.... all i gotta say is good freaking luck finding the right wire to splice to... my experience was all trial and error and hide errors with electrical tape.Is it easy? Only if you're and experienced electrician lol.Overall, for me, this was a pain in the a** to install and the sound quality is a solid "meh" and doesn't exceeded and expectations. There is no WOW! factor, but it works so i guess whatever.Garbage customer service.Originally gave the speaker 4 stars for the sound quality. After a few rides I started to have some play in the speaker mounts which progressively got worse. It’s coming from a part in the bracket which has an Allen bolt in it to a sleeved flat nut with nothing to grab onto. It is as tight as it can be and I’ve still got 1/4 inch of play back and forth. This is a pain as it rattles around while riding.2 bolts broke during installation (not torqued more than 5ftlbs… Hardware is terrible.I’ve reached out to kuryakn via phone and email over the last 3 months and can’t even get a response. I’m guessing this is a defective piece of hardware. What a joke kuryakn is to their customers. After paying the 529+tax+shipping so I can have music on my trip I receive a pre scratched presumably perused item. This is ludicrous, and completely unacceptableI’ve updated my original review. The Bluetooth works, but you have to pair it Everytime you use it. So far so good.ORIGINAL: I’ve set it up and I love the skip controls and all the bottoms are convenient but the blue tooth doesn’t work. It skips and connects to my phone but does not play the song even when the song runs on my phone and shows it’s playing. You need to use the aux. seems kind of expensive for a system that needs to be hooked up. Not worth it if you have an iPhone since we don’t even have a headphone jack anymore.we put it into our side by side... sound is great and loud enough to hear of bike
